This collection of business records, for the period 1770 to 1795, represents the operations of all aspects of Partridge's business interests. The books contain records generally organized by patron, their purchases and amounts, and the date of settlement with the signatures of customer and proprietor. The transactions refer to clothing, food, rum, raw materials, and milled lumber. The folder contains additional items including several receipts and miscellaneous accounts, a bill, the noting in 1779 of the use of "lawfull money in the new way," a notice demanding the return of stolen goods, and the recording of the sailings of specific captains and their sloops, for the period 1786 to 1788, with the cargoes frequently consisting of rum, as well as accounts for spinning.
